I'm a photographer located in Springfield, Missouri that specializes in Maternity, Newborn, Child, Family and High School Senior Portraits. This blog is aimed to keep you up to date on anything and everything going on with JasonMPortraits. I will post any special packages or discounts I'm currently offering along with a few comments about photo sessions I've done, to include a couple images. On the final session with my Senior Rep Paige (from Kickapoo here in Springfield, Mo), I wanted to do something a little different. I've always drove by a tire shop and thought the old decrepit tires out in the back of the building were pretty interested. So when I need new tires, I ran by there to get a quote and asked if they would mind me using their tire graveyard as a setting for some Senior Portraits. They were more than happy to let me shoot there. When leaving, I noticed a couple other areas that caught my eye...so ...
Tiffany and I met up at Fassnight Park for her 2nd Senior Rep Portrait session. There's an old fire station near the park, and that's where we started. Eventually we made out way over to the park. I looked like a storm was getting ready to roll in so we did what we could before it got too dark. Hope you enjoy.
I met up with Makena at Wilson's Creek Battlefield for her second session. We couldn't have asked for a better day to shoot and Makena did an awesome job.
For Paige's 2nd session, we met up at my studio and then drove to a nearby field for the first part. The sun was still pretty high in the sky but we were still able to get several great portraits. After the field, we headed down the road to Chesterfield Village for some portraits using some of the buildings as my backdrop.
I met Tiffany while photographing the Parkview Homecoming Dance this past year. I was looking for Senior Reps and she was just what I was looking for. She's very pretty and has a great personality to go with it. I've done a couple sessions with Tiffany so far and we always manage to get some really great images from each session.
I was given Paige's name by a previous senior's mom. I had asked if they knew any juniors this year that would be a good rep for the 2012 seniors. The mom went on about how beautiful Paige was and how nice and polite she was. So I contacted Paige and asked if she would be interested. Thankfully she said yes cause as you can see, the mom wasn't lying. Paige is a beautiful young lady that has a passion for working with kids. My wife and I met up with Paige and her mother Shelly down around Commercial Street ...
I met Makena when her friend Tiffany brought her on a photo session on probably the coldest day of the winter. It was miserably cold with a little bet of wetness in the air that day, but Makena was a trooper. Not once did she let on how cold and miserable she must have been. Needless to say, I found Makena very pretty and I liked her personality so I asked her if she would be up to being my Senior rep for Republic High. She agreed. Sara was given my name by Kenzi, a friend of hers that I had done Senior portraits for earlier in the year. When Sara called me about doing her Senior portraits, she had a few specific ideas she wanted to accomplish. One was she wanted a picture with roses and the other was having her volleyball shirts and awards displayed. We were able to get both of those done in the studio before heading out to the square in Ozark, Mo for her outdoor part of the session. When we made it out to Ozark, we realized the sun couldn't ...
Alex was a Senior at Republic High in Republic, Mo this past year. For a High School Senior guy...he was pretty easy to work with. We met up at my studio for part of his session, then hit Nathaniel Green and Downtown Springfield, Mo for the rest.
Cole split his session between my studio and down on Commercial Street in Springfield, Mo. On the day of the outdoor session, of course it had to rain. Once the rain stopped, it got really windy. I thought we would have to reschedule the shoot but just before Cole arrived it all cleared up. We walked around down near the footbridge on Commercial and got some really great shots.
Byron's mom called me wanting a quick Senior Portrait Session before the end of the school year. We decided to do a mini-studio session. This is a fast moving session where I have all my backdrops already setup and we just moved Byron from one set to another, occasionally having him change clothes. Byron mentioned he was into old vintage stuff so I took that into consideration when editing his pics. I wanted to give him something cool and different that would look as if it could have been shot 30 years ago. Hope you enjoy.
Kenzi is a Senior at Waynesville Senior High School and was a true delight to be around. This was one of those sessions where everything just came together and worked perfectly. The sun peaked out for us from time to time, the wind settled down, Kenzi just nailed her poses, not too mention how beautiful she is. I couldn't have asked for a better senior session. Thanks Kenzi for letting my take part in your senior experience. I hope you had as much fun we I did.
A fellow photographer and friend of mine Eliesha asked me to take some portraits for her and I was happy to do so. Eliesha was in my very first photography class and we have stayed in contact ever since. She wanted to do their session at the park in Ozark, Mo since she had grown up not far from there. Here's a few from our session.

I've been slacking on my posting on here but finally found time to get everything up to day. This is the Mendenhall family. For their session we met up in Downtown Springfield and walked around to several areas. Kylie is good friends with my daughter and my wife and I have become friends with Elizabeth & Cody as well. It was a lot of fun getting to photograph you guys and I look forward to our next session. Here's a couple of my favorites from the session.
This is the Allison family. I was asked to do some family portraits for them a few months back and we made plans to meet up at Sequiota Park in South East Springfield. It was a pretty nice day minus a little wind and we got some really great images of the entire family. I promised Eden that I wouldn't mention their oldest daughter being a little reluctant at first to be photographed...so I won't... :-) but just as we were rapping up, she came around and we managed to get some great images with her also.
I met up with Meg and kids at Sequiota Park in Southwest Springfield for some family portraits. The Stephen's are a beautiful family and it's been great getting to photograph them twice now. This occasion was for Gavin's 6 month images so we could capture how big he's getting and how he can now sit up. Ella seemed more interested in the ducks and fishies than me taking her picture, but we ended up with some fabulous family images. Hopefully next time Dad will be in town and can join in on the fun.
Payton is a Senior at Kickapoo this year and I was fortunate enough to capture his Senior Portraits. Payton was really easy to work with and made the sessions a lot of fun. I had the pleasure of capturing this little guys newborn portraits. I couldn't have asked for a better baby to work with. He slept the first part of the photo session, then was awake for the last half, but didn't fuss around much at all. Melaina is a doll and seemed very excited to have a little brother. I'm sure she'll be a great big sister.
I recently reconnected(via Facebook) with Debbie who I had went to Reed Jr High(shout out to all my Northsiders) with a few years ago. She herself has taken an interest in Photography so we messaged back and forth about it a few times. When I realized she was pregnant, we started putting plans together to do her Maternity session downtown. It was probably the hottest day of the year and there was construction blocking 3 of the locations I wanted to use, but I think we still got some amazing images. Easy to do with such a good looking family.
This was the second time I've had the privilege of photographing little Turner. These are his six month old portraits and I couldn't have asked for a happier little guy. We all met up at his Grandma's house(which happens to be a beautiful home with an amazing yard) and had full reign of the backyard.

All in all the session ended up with some amazing portraits of Sara.
Well it’s been way too long since my last post and I’m going to make more of an effort to at least post 1 thing a week. I know that’s not a lot, but I have to start somewhere. When I heard she was expecting her first child, I quickly hit her up with a few ideas for a Maternity session I’ve wanted to do. I recently purchased this old disgusting couch from a flea market here in Springfield, Mo and had it completely re-done. I wanted to work that into a session to see how it would photograph. Another thing I wanted to do was a Maternity session before the moms-to-be are miserable. Most of my Maternity sessions are later in the pregnancy, so I asked Tara if she would be up to doing 2 sessions…one around 26 weeks then the other closer to her due date. Tara showed up for her first session with everything I had asked her to bring. She was very easy to work with and I couldn’t have asked for a better Maternity session.
